Four Principles Of First Aid

I want to talk about why we might need to do first aid.

There are four basic principles that we use or that we need to remember when we provide first aid. We are there to …

  1. Protect the unconscious casualty.
  2. Prevent further injury or harm
  3. Promote recovery
  4. Help to preserve life

Another thing to keep in mind is that it is important to do a first aid course and get a certificate.

Getting a certificate is a wonderful thing but it’s not all about you. Unlike a lot of other courses which are about how it’s going to benefit and progress you, this is about the person sitting next to you. The course is about your mum and your dad, your partner, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, your wife, husband, and child.

This is about what you do for them.

This is what I love about first aid. It is that type of course. It’s not about what you get out of it. It’s about what you can do for the people around you and the community. So, those are the other reasons why it’s very important to do first aid.

The certificate that you’ll get at the completion a the course is nationally accredited. The CPR component of it is recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council. However that should be updated every twelve months.
